Growing Anticipation

This will be my last post, before I will fly to Rabat. Only two days left... from day to day my anticipation and excitement is growing. 😀 Soon I will meet all colleagues from SAP and Pyxera that I have met only via Skype so far. 

But I am not only looking forward to all the new people and to all experiences that are waiting ahead. I am also eager to discover more about Morocco, its culture and its people. You can be sure that I will share some of my impressions in the upcoming weeks.

As I have already spent my last year's vacation in Morocco, I want to share some pictures with you to make you curious as well and to also raise some anticipation of what is coming soon.

All good things come to an end...

... so did the Social Sabbatical last Saturday. On Friday we had our closing event with all teams and the host clients. It was organized as a panel discussion where every team first summarized its experience from the past 4 weeks and then was asked different questions about the project. After the event it was time for the first round of farewell, we had to say goodbye to our hosts with whom we spent most of the time during our stay. I was glad to get a traditional Moroccan Shirt of Adnane's fashion brand that perfectly complements my new babouches. Do you like it? 😜 In the evening we celebrated. We started with our final dinner together as a global SAP team (at least the last one for now, who knows, maybe there will be some reunion in future) in a French restaurant accompanied by Jazz music. As my birthday was on Saturday, some colleagues already started to celebrate with me some hours early. 😉 We continued and finally ended our party in the bar next to our hotel....

Our Customer MCISE and the Scope of Work

Today we had the announcement of our subteam, the assignment to our local client and the introduction of our Scope of Work. I was so excited and could not wait to get more information about our work in Rabat!  For the project work in Morocco the twelve SAP colleagues are split into subteams of three people each. This is my team: Janet Brewer from the USA and Marek Garbos from UK will work together with me. After our first calls over Skype, I am really looking forward to work closely with these two. Together we will support the local client MCISE (Moroccan Center for Innovation and Social Entrepreneurship). MCISE logo They describe themselves as "a not-for-profit dedicated to finding entrepreneurial and innovative solutions to every social challenge in Morocco. Rabat Days 3+4: First-hand information

Yesterday, the social sabbatical was officially kicked off. All local clients came together in our hotel to meet their team and to introduce their organization to the other teams: USAID career center, Enactus, StartUp Maroc and MCISE. The event was started with an introduction about CSR at SAP by Sarah, our mentor, and Nabil from SAP Morocco, followed by an introduction on Pyxera from Kelsey. Together with our client, we also met our project assistant, Wissam, who supports us in translating French into English whenever needed.
